Symptom
With a fresh install of FileSite, the OutsideIn viewer sometimes does not load correctly in the Outlook preview pane. Instead a message is displayed in the preview pane.
‘Sorry. A viewer for this format is not available’.
This feature is called ‘Quick View‘ for training purposes.
The problem persists after the machine is rebooted, and after a FileSite install ‘Repair’ and reboot. If this sounds like the problem you’re having…
Fix
The fix is described in iManage TechNote 100525:
**Make sure that the FileSite entry is first in the path.**
Note: to change path on Windows 2003 – Make sure that Outlook is not running. Go to Control Panel | System | Advanced | Environment Variables button. Launch Outlook again – no restart needed.
Analysis
On the particular test machine, the path variable was very clean, so looks likely this is a conflict with WorkShare:
BEFORE = PATH WITH BUG
%SystemRoot%system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%System32Wbem;C:Program FilesATI TechnologiesATI.ACECore-Static;C:Program FilesWorkshareModules;c:program filesworksharemodules;C:Program FilesInterwovenWorkSite
AFTER = PATH WORKS CORRECTLY
%SystemRoot%system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%System32Wbem;C:Program FilesInterwovenWorkSite;C:Program FilesATI TechnologiesATI.ACECore-Static;C:Program FilesWorkshareModules;c:program filesworksharemodules
Note
Starting in 8.2 sp2, Keyview is used for viewer technology, so the OutsideIn splash screen will no longer appear.
